For Beaufort03 Daniel Buren wanted to make a work that would create the illusion of a forest. Instead of putting up trees, Buren created with Le vent souffle où il veut (The wind blows wherever it pleases) a design of a hundred flagpoles, with weathercocks in different colours. Each weathercock begins and ends in a bright colour and the coloured bands are, as always in the works of art by Buren, alternated with white. The work was purchased by the town of Nieuwpoort. On the promenade the spectator can admire the impressive work at the Royal Marina or he can walk around between the different poles and enjoy a spectacle of flapping colours.
